Indigo Black Beauty catches the eye with its nearly black skin. The dark purple flesh is very meaty, with a well-balanced, pleasant flavor. In our garden, the fruits do not exceed 100 g.

The variety was bred by Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms by crossing “Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye” with “Indigo Apple.” The dark pigment is most pronounced in areas exposed to sunlight. However, this does not mean you should strip the plant of its leaves: during hot weather, they protect the fruit from sunburn.

The plant is tall and requires support. The fruit ripens about 80 days after transplanting the seedlings. When harvesting, it’s also important to assess the tenderness and color of the parts of the fruit without the dark pigment, since the black color alone does not indicate ripeness.
