Italian Heirloom is an Italian tomato variety with large, fleshy, deep-red fruits. In our description, they weigh 300–500 g, are slightly oval or pear-shaped, and have few seeds.
Their rich, balanced flavor combines sweetness with a slight tartness. The fruits are great eaten raw, but also work well in sauces, on pizza, and in preserves, where a high pulp content is desirable. For a comparison of Italian tomatoes for sauce, check out Italian Red Pear.
This tall plant requires staking or tying up. The fruits ripen about 75–80 days after planting the seedlings.
