Very fleshy fruit with a delicate skin, clearly flattened. Perfect for sandwiches. The fruit is large, from 150 to 500 grams. They reach maturity about 92 days after planting. High-growing plant, requires staking or tying. The history of the variety is long, as is the case with most established varieties: Originally grown by Dr. Herbert Edgar Dester of Berne, MD in the Indiana stables, who received the seeds from his ancestors. In the 1970s, Dr. Destera's maid moved to Missouri, where she continued to grow this strain. They then went to a local farmer, Larry Prince, who sent them to the SSE.
