Indigo Blue Beauty is a variety developed by Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms, created by crossing “Beauty King” with a blue-colored tomato. The tall, sturdy plants produce plenty of fruit weighing 200–300 g with intensely red flesh.
The dark color of the skin is most pronounced where the fruit is exposed to light. When planting, it’s important to give the plants space and good air circulation, while keeping the leaves in place to protect the clusters from direct sunlight. We determine harvest readiness by the reddening of the lighter parts of the fruit and its slight softening.
The fruit reaches maturity about 80 days after planting the seedlings. Large, colorful slices look especially good in salads.
