An interesting variety that’s listed as a “black tomato” in most catalogs. We find it hard to agree with that, since its color is only slightly darker than that of traditional purple varieties. However, everything changes once you cut the fruit open—it’s impossible to describe; it’s best to see it in the photo below. When cut open, the fruit reveals distinct discoloration that looks strikingly like… a flame. The skin is delicate yet resistant to cracking. The fruits are large, weighing over 300–350 grams. The flesh is mottled, with distinct variations in color, and is meaty and very juicy. The plants require staking or trellising. The fruit reaches maturity about 85 days after transplanting.
