Limmony is a Russian variety with bright yellow, very fleshy fruit that has few seeds and a delicate skin. It produces a good yield and remains one of our favorite market varieties, a popular choice among customers.
The seeds were distributed following a Seed Savers Exchange expedition to Russia in the early 1990s. Craig LeHoullier noted that he received them from David Cavagnaro in 1994. It is one of the tomato varieties that, through seed exchange, crossed borders and found their way into new gardens.
The fruits ripen about 85 days after planting the seedlings. Their large, yellow slices are worth comparing with “Lillian’s Yellow Heirloom” during your own tasting.
