A very high-yielding, open-pollinated variety originating from the state of Wisconsin. The fruits are heart-shaped, deep red, very fleshy, and weigh about 350 grams. They combine excellent flavor, a rich aroma, and a beautiful red color. This tomato is perfect for sandwiches and purees. The fruit ripens about 80 days after planting.
Amish Paste was listed in the 1987 Seed Savers Exchange yearbook by Thane Earle of Wisconsin. It was introduced to the market by Tom Hauch, who received seeds from the Amish community near Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This history is documented in the 2016 Seed Savers Exchange catalog.
