Excellent, slightly fruity flavor; large, beautiful fruits with thin skin, very fleshy and juicy, with a wonderful aroma and a perfectly balanced sweetness and acidity. The fruits are very large, weighing 400–600 g. This variety can be grown in open ground or under cover, though it performs better under cover.

Hazel Mae originates from the family seeds of Jerry Moomaw’s grandmother from Ohio. Moomaw shared it in the 1997 Seed Savers Exchange catalog. The yellow-and-pink marbling, also visible in our photos, is best seen when the fruit is cut into wide slices.
