Variety Type
Also known as: purpose of the variety
The use type defines the main purpose of a variety. Tomatoes may be intended primarily for fresh consumption, processing, drying, juice production, or home gardening. Many varieties combine several uses, but one of them usually predominates. It’s a good idea to select a variety based on your intended use before sowing, paying attention not only to appearance but also to the flesh, juiciness, and shelf life of the fruit.
