TSWV (tomato brown spot virus)

TSWV (Tomato spotted wilt virus) causes brown spots, necrosis, and deformities in leaves and fruit, as well as severe stunted growth. It is transmitted by thrips: the larvae acquire the virus, and mainly the adults infect the plants. Control measures should combine the use of healthy transplants, removal of weeds and other host plants, monitoring and suppression of thrips, and, in protected cultivation, barriers to prevent their entry. Resistant varieties are also helpful, if available.
