Steering system

Also known as: plant training method

The training system determines how the plants are shaped by regulating the number of shoots, staking, and pruning. Most often, tomato plants are trained to one, two, or three shoots. The choice of an appropriate system depends on the variety, growing conditions, and the expected size and quality of the crop. The system should be selected before intensive pruning based on the variety’s growth habit and available space, and the plant should then be trained consistently.
