Soil salinity
Soil salinity refers to an excessive accumulation of mineral salts in the root zone. It is most often the result of over-fertilization or insufficient leaching of the soil. It causes impaired water uptake, stunted growth, and symptoms resembling drought. In professional cultivation, the salinity level is monitored by measuring EC. If salinity is suspected, stop fertilizing, check EC and drainage, and flush the growing medium with clean water only when the excess can drain away freely.
