Soil pH

Soil pH determines whether the soil is acidic or alkaline. It directly affects the availability of nutrients and the activity of soil microorganisms. Tomatoes grow best at a pH of about 6.0–6.8. Even well-fertilized soil can cause deficiency symptoms if its pH is incorrect. The pH should be measured before liming or acidifying, and the correction should be based on the test results and soil type.
