Seed Treatment

Seed treatment involves the even application, prior to sowing, of a biological or chemical preparation that protects against specific diseases or pests. Physical heat treatments or other seed disinfection methods constitute a separate category of treatments. Seed treatment can reduce risks associated with seed material or protect young seedlings from pathogens and soil-borne pests, depending on the product used. Chemical seed treatments should be used only if they are approved for the specific seed material and user, strictly in accordance with the label, and with the required protective measures.
