Ring near the stalk

The “ring” at the pedicel is commonly referred to as the visible “knee,” that is, the separation zone typically located in the middle of the pedicel of the flower and fruit. It allows the fruit to be separated along with a portion of the pedicel. The presence or absence of this zone is a varietal characteristic, and jointless varieties do not form it. It should not be confused with the scar or the green ring found directly adjacent to the fruit.
