Pole Vaulting
Also known as: staking
Staking involves tying tomato plants to stakes, strings, or other supports. It prevents the plants from lying flat, improves light exposure and air circulation, and makes care and harvesting easier. It is an essential practice in growing most tall-growing varieties. It is best to set up the support when planting, tie the shoots loosely with soft material, and check regularly to make sure the ties are not constricting them.
