Plant load
Also known as: fruit load
Plant load refers to the number of developing fruits in relation to the plant’s ability to nourish them. Too high a load leads to smaller fruits, delayed ripening, and stunted growth. Conversely, too low a load causes excessive leaf and shoot growth at the expense of yield. Maintaining the proper balance is one of the fundamental aspects of tomato cultivation. If new growth is noticeably weakening and the fruits are becoming smaller, you should first improve growing conditions and, for large-fruited varieties, consider removing the weakest fruit set.
