Origin of the variety

The origin of a variety refers to the place, country, or breeder from which that variety derives. In the case of heirloom varieties, it is often associated with an interesting history passed down through many generations. Knowing the origin helps preserve the heritage of these varieties and makes it easier to identify them. When exchanging seeds, it’s a good idea to record the source, the year they were obtained, and the original name of the variety.
