Hydration

Hydration determines the extent to which a plant is supplied with water. Proper hydration is essential for maintaining turgor, efficient nutrient transport, and intensive photosynthesis. Both a shortage and an excess of water lead to growth disorders and a decline in crop quality. The need for watering should be assessed based on the moisture content of the root zone, not just the appearance of the leaves or the dry surface of the soil.
