Hop Moth

The hop spider mite is a tiny mite that sucks the contents from leaf cells; it is particularly harmful in warm and dry conditions. Early symptoms include numerous light-colored spots on the leaves, followed by yellowing, wilting, and a fine web-like structure. The pest feeds mainly on the underside of the leaves and can quickly form large populations. Plants should be inspected regularly—using a magnifying glass if necessary—and initial outbreaks should be controlled before they spread to the entire crop.
