Amateur gardening is primarily done for personal use. Most often, the greatest emphasis is placed on the taste of the fruit, variety selection, and the satisfaction derived from growing them, rather than on maximum yield. Many people also limit their use of chemical pesticides in favor of biological methods and preventive measures.
