Hardening Seedlings

Hardening off seedlings is the process of gradually acclimating young plants to outdoor or greenhouse conditions before planting them in their permanent location. It involves gradually lowering the temperature, increasing light exposure, reducing watering, and exposing the plants to wind. The process usually takes 7 to 14 days. Well-hardened seedlings tolerate transplanting much better and resume growth more quickly.
