Fruit Set

Also known as: fruit set

Fruit set is the initiation of ovary growth, which typically occurs after successful pollination and fertilization of the flower. In parthenocarpic varieties, however, the young fruit can develop without fertilization. The process is highly sensitive to temperature, humidity, and the plant’s condition. Disruptions to this process lead to flower drop and reduced yield. During this period, maintain consistent humidity and temperature, ventilate the covers, promote flower shaking, and avoid excess nitrogen.
