Frost resistance

Tomatoes are heat-loving plants and are not frost-hardy. Even a brief drop in temperature below 0°C can cause tissue damage and plant death. Even prolonged temperatures below about 10°C can significantly limit growth and nutrient uptake. Seedlings should be transplanted after the risk of frost has passed, and in the event of a sudden cold snap, the plants should be sheltered or the containers moved to a safe location.
