Epinastia

Also known as: epinastic leaf curling

Epinastia is a characteristic downward curvature of leaves or petioles caused by uneven tissue growth. In tomatoes, it can occur as a response to stress, root damage, excess nitrogen, waterlogged soil, or exposure to ethylene. Epinastia itself is not a disease, but a symptom indicating physiological disorders or unfavorable growing conditions. First, check the moisture level and condition of the roots as well as the most recent fertilization; do not apply fertilizer or spray solely based on the shape of the leaves.
