Dessert varieties

Dessert varieties are grown primarily for fresh consumption. They are characterized by a rich flavor, high sugar content, and an intense aroma. They usually have thinner skin and a shorter post-harvest shelf life than industrial varieties. It is to this group that most of the old collector’s varieties belong.
