Small, compact bushes and strikingly beautiful fruit—the Blue Candles Bush also stood out in our garden for its very high yield. Its elongated cherry tomatoes have a delicate, pale yellow color, accented with distinct indigo highlights. This combination gives each fruit a slightly different appearance.
The variety ripens moderately late. It produces densely foliated plants with a bushy habit and limited growth. In our cultivation, it behaved as a self-terminating variety, although it is also sometimes described as semi-self-terminating in catalogs.
An interesting feature is the way the fruit colors: the dark pigment appears primarily where the skin is exposed to the sun. The dense foliage of Blue Candles Bush can effectively shield the clusters, so when tending to the plant, it’s best to gently expose them while preserving most of the healthy foliage. Fruits that receive more light develop stronger indigo hues, while those hidden deeper in the bush remain lighter in color.
Our observation: a very productive variety with beautiful fruit and a compact growth habit—an interesting choice for lovers of unusually colored tomatoes.
