Brandywine OTV produces large, deep-red fruits with a subtle orange tint, weighing up to half a kilogram. The thin skin encloses creamy, delicate flesh with a full flavor—in our opinion, this is one of those tomatoes you’ll want to come back to.
Carolyn Male stabilized the variety from a chance cross between Brandywine Yellow and an unknown second parent, found in Craig LeHoullier’s garden. It appeared in the Seed Savers Exchange Yearbook in 1997.
This tall plant with potato-leaf foliage needs sturdy support. In our garden, it often produces fasciated, fused flowers, which can develop into particularly large, irregularly shaped fruits.
