The beautiful fruits of this variety have an intense olive color with a distinctive cross at the stem end. When cut open, they reveal a magnificent red interior. The skin is firm, and the fruit is juicy—it’s worth waiting until they’re fully ripe. The plant is tall with regular leaves and requires staking. It produces a very high yield per bush, with uniformly filled clusters. The fruit ripens in about 80 days.
An olive color does not necessarily mean the fruit is unripe. When harvesting, select fruits with developing red streaks that are beginning to soften slightly; their firmness and slow ripening are also appreciated by other growers. These fruits work well in fresh salsa.
