Green Bumblebee produces small, slightly elongated tomatoes with a green background and dark purple streaks. Their firm, juicy flesh has a sweet, well-balanced flavor. It’s an interesting cherry tomato for salads and snacks, especially for those who want to go beyond the classic red tomatoes.
The variety was selected by Tatiana Kouchnareva, creator of Tatiana’s TOMATObase, from Purple Bumble Bee stock. She retained plants with distinct coloration, adding another variant to this popular group of striped tomatoes.
The plant grows tall and requires staking. It ripens approximately 75 days after transplanting the seedlings. The green background remains even on ripe fruits, so when harvesting, it’s a good idea to also check how soft they’ve become. Pair it with “Purple Bumblebee” or “Pink Bumblebee” to compare the colors and flavors of the entire group in a single bowl.
