Tennessee Britches is a tomato for lovers of truly large, pink fruits. Its dense flesh and rich flavor make it perfect for serving in thick slices on bread or adding to a simple salad with onions. Its history has a family connection. According to an account preserved by Victory Seeds, the tomato was grown for a long time by Mr. Buckley in Dresden, Tennessee, and later maintained by Joe Atnip. He named it after his daughter’s nickname. The seeds he passed on allowed this family heirloom to find its way into other gardens.
