Henderson’s Winsall was introduced in 1924 as “Number 400.” The name Winsall was chosen in a contest in 1925. The variety was intended to be the pride of Peter Henderson & Co., and its large, pink fruit and flavor were featured in catalog descriptions for decades to come. The leaves are regular in shape. The fruit is large, weighing over half a kilogram and reaching up to one kilogram. The skin is very delicate and prone to bruising. The shape is irregular. The fruit reaches maturity approximately 85 days after transplanting. The plant grows tall and requires staking or tying up.
