The variety is a legacy of Kentucky's Lettie Cantrell, who grew it continuously from the 1940s until her death in 2005. In 2006, German Pink won Best Taste honors competing against a hundred other varieties. The strong plant with regular leaves produces large quantities of beautiful, intensely pink, slightly flattened fruits weighing 500 to 1,000 grams. An exquisite tomato for sandwiches, cooking and preserves. Fruits ripen in about 80 days after planting.
