The name is associated with Mutxamel in the province of Alicante, one of the centers of traditional cultivation of this Spanish tomato. It is characterized by small red fruits with green skin near the stem. The fruits weigh no more than 100 grams. In terms of flavor, they are unique, intense, and have a beautiful aroma. They are excellent for purees and spreads, with a very high harvest per plant. The plant is tall and requires staking; fruiting begins approximately 75 days after planting.
Muchamiel is part of the region’s living horticultural heritage. Miguel Hernández University is conducting research on the conservation and evaluation of local tomato varieties of this type, including taste-testing sessions to compare their flavors. In our collection, we preserve the line with smaller fruits, as described above.
