The Eva Purple Ball variety comes from the Black Forest region of Germany and has been cultivated since the late 19th century. It was brought to the United States by the Joseph Bratka family from New Jersey and introduced to the Seed Savers Exchange in 1991. It is a mid-early variety, with fruit ripening in about 70-80 days after planting.

The plant is a tall type, meaning it grows continuously throughout the season and requires support. The fruit is smooth, round, dark pink or purple-pink, weighing 140-200 grams, free from discoloration and blemishes, making it very visually appealing. It is also resistant to cracking and has a thin skin, making it easy to peel. The taste is delicious, well-balanced, sweet with a slight acidity.

This variety is disease resistant and yields well even in difficult conditions, including hot and humid climates. It is suitable for versatile use - excellent for salads, preserves, and raw consumption.

This is an excellent choice for gardeners looking for a reliable, tasty and resistant tomato variety.
