A deep red tomato with large fruits weighing over half a kilogram. The fruits are irregularly shaped with a delicate skin; they are very meaty and perfect for sandwiches and preserves. The fruits reach maturity about 85 days after planting. The plant is tall and requires staking or tying up.
The history of “Kolb” traces back to the Kolb family’s greenhouse in Storm Lake, Iowa, around 1933. Sally Jo Baldwin shared the seeds she received from her aunt in the 1983 Seed Savers Exchange yearbook. Thanks to this family legacy, the variety has remained in cultivation.
