The Brimmer tomato, also known as Wood’s Famous Brimmer, is a unique heirloom variety from Virginia, introduced by T.W. Wood & Sons in the early 1900s. This variety won the Grand Prix for size and quality at the Jamestown Exposition in 1907. Brimmer comes from the Ponderosa line and is known for its very large fruit, which can weigh from 1 to 2.5 kg, making it a great choice for lovers of large tomatoes.

The fruit of this variety is pinkish-red in color, fleshy, and has a slightly thicker skin, which helps them store for a long time. Brimmer tomatoes have a sweet flavor with low acidity, making them great for salads, sandwiches, and preserves such as sauces and purees. It is also a great tomato for preserving.

The plant is a tall type, which means it grows throughout the growing season, and needs proper support due to the abundant yields. The ripening period is about 80-82 days from planting, and its large fruits are the decoration of any garden.

For lovers of classic heirloom varieties, Brimmer is an excellent choice, offering rich flavor, high yield and beautiful, fleshy fruit.
