Brimmer, also known as Wood’s Famous “Brimmer,” has large, fleshy, reddish-pink fruits. Their sweet, mild flavor works well on sandwiches and in salads, and the abundance of flesh also makes them ideal for making sauce or puree.

This variety is associated with the T. W. Wood & Sons company of Virginia. Its old catalogs noted that it won the Grand Prix for fruit size and quality at the Jamestown exhibition in 1907. Such references show that the fascination with large tomatoes has a long history.

The plant grows tall and needs sturdy support. The fruits ripen here about 80–82 days after transplanting. Their skin is slightly thicker than that of many delicate salad varieties.
