Another variety from the Brandywine family—very tasty, with a sweet, wine-like flavor, juicy and very fleshy, and a wonderful aroma. The thin-skinned fruits are dark pink, verging on purple. Fruit size ranges from 300 to 500 grams. Potato-leaf foliage. A very productive variety.
Brandywine Purple was developed by Joe Bratka by crossing ‘Brandywine’ with ‘Marizol Purple’. In collections, it is also found under the names ‘Purple Brandy’ and ‘Marizol Brandywine’. This is an example of how a well-known variety became the starting point for further exploration of flavor.
