White Queen

A variety recovered from USDA collections by Craig LeHoullier and Carolyn Male. Craig described its successful cultivation in a 1994 report, and in 1995, the seeds were made available through the Seed Savers Exchange. This is an example of how seeds stored in a collection can find their way back into home gardens. The fruit is almost perfectly white, uniform in shape and size across the plant. The entire fruit turns color, including the part near the stem. Occasionally, some fruits may develop yellow and red discoloration in the final stage of ripening. The plant is vigorous and requires staking or trellising. It is a late-season variety; the fruits ripen approximately 85 days after planting.
