This variety is nearly identical to the White Zebra variety available at our farm. The differences between them are so subtle that if we plant them side by side, it will be difficult to tell them apart. However, there are some significant differences: ‘Blonde Boar’ grows more vigorously and seems better suited to being trained on a larger number of shoots. Another difference concerns the color of the fruit—when Blonde Boar reaches full maturity, it begins to take on a subtle reddish hue, resembling pineapple tomatoes. Otherwise, both the leaves and the fruit are virtually identical: round, white with subtle green stripes that gradually fade as the fruit ripens. The flavor is distinctly tart. This is a mid-late variety that grows tall, so it requires staking. The leaves are regular.
Blonde Boar originates from Brad Gates’s breeding program at Wild Boar Farms. In his collection, it represents the lighter side of striped tomatoes: a pale cream-colored skin with a delicate, greenish pattern.
