A very early variety with determinate growth. The low-growing plants produce abundant fruit on each cluster. Polar Beauty’s fruits are small, with a diameter not exceeding 5 cm. They are a deep red color, have a delicate skin, have no green shoulders, and taste excellent. The fruit ripens about 60 days after transplanting. This variety is ideal for outdoor cultivation and cooler climates.
The variety was developed by John Holm of Fairbanks, Alaska. The breeder worked to create tomatoes that could ripen during the region’s short growing season. Seeds of his varieties, including “Polar Beauty,” were added to the conservation collection at the Georgeson Botanical Garden at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
