A variety popularized by Carl Aker, a tomato enthusiast from Pennsylvania. In 1996, he gave Craig LeHoullier seeds labeled “West Virginia.” LeHoullier added Aker’s last name to the variety name to distinguish it from other varieties with similar names. Strong, tall plants with regular leaves produce large quantities of beautiful, deep-red tomatoes. The fruits are slightly flattened and rather large, though they do not exceed one kilogram. They are highly resistant to cracking and have a perfectly balanced sweet-and-sour flavor. Delicious! The fruits reach maturity after about 85 days.
