A determinate tomato variety native to Alaska; this strong, bushy plant does not exceed 120 cm in height. It is a very early variety; the fruits ripen about 63 days after transplanting. The fruits are uniform, spherical, with a crack-resistant skin; they are a deep red color and have an excellent flavor. It is perfectly suited for field cultivation.
The variety was developed by John Holm of Fairbanks, Alaska. The breeder worked on tomatoes capable of ripening during the region’s short growing season. Seeds of his varieties, including “Polar Baby,” were added to the conservation collection at the Georgeson Botanical Garden at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
