Carol Chycko’s Big Paste Black is a cross between Carol Chyco's Big Paste and Black Krim, developed by Australian breeder Savior Schembri. It combines large, fleshy fruit with a mahogany color and hints of purple.
Here, the fruits weigh 300–750 g. They have a rich flavor with distinct tartness and are juicy, which is why—despite the word “Paste” in the name—they’re also perfect for salads and sandwiches. They can be used to make aromatic sauces.
This prolific, tall plant with regular leaves requires sturdy support. The first fruits ripen about 70–80 days after transplanting.
