This robust plant with large leaves is reminiscent of the Brandywine varieties; however, German Giant ripens earlier than the Brandywine varieties, produces larger fruit, and is more productive. The fruit can weigh over 1 kilogram; it is fleshy, full of flavor, and very sweet. The fruit ripens about 80 days after transplanting.
