Delicious is a tomato for lovers of truly large slices. Burpee introduced the variety in 1964 after selecting it from the Beefsteak type. It became famous for Gordon Graham’s tomato, which weighed about 3.5 kg and held the world record for many years—today it’s a historical record, but it remains a remarkable part of its story.
The meaty fruits are perfect for sandwiches and salads; sometimes a single slice is enough for several slices of bread. In our cultivation, we also value the fruits’ resistance to cracking. They ripen about 80 days after transplanting the seedlings. The tall plants and heavy clusters require sturdy support.
