Variety Sensitivity

Also known as: variety susceptibility

A variety’s susceptibility determines its vulnerability to a specific disease, pest, or adverse environmental factor. It depends on the genetic characteristics of a given variety and growing conditions, rather than on its classification as a collector’s variety, established variety, or hybrid F1. A variety that is resistant to one threat may be susceptible to others. Knowledge of these characteristics facilitates the selection of appropriate cultivation techniques.
