Protected cultivation refers to the work involved in developing and improving varieties in tunnels or greenhouses. Controlled conditions facilitate cross-breeding, the selection of offspring, and the evaluation of plant and fruit characteristics. This concept should not be confused with the simple cultivation of tomatoes under cover, which is aimed at producing a crop.
