Cuore Antico di Acqui Terme is an old Italian heirloom variety, whose name means “ancient heart of Acqui Terme.” Originating from the Piedmont region, it has been valued for generations in local gardens for its unique appearance and flavor. This is a tomato that combines the heritage of Italian cuisine with the exceptional aesthetics of heart-shaped fruits.

The plant is tall (indeterminate), but with a delicate, slender stem, which is why it requires strong staking and careful training. It produces regular leaves, and its growth is moderate, focusing on the production of large fruits. The maturity period falls in mid-season — fruits appear in steady succession, ensuring continuous harvests.

Cuore Antico fruits are a true ornament of the garden. Large, heart-shaped, intensely red, weighing often more than 300 grams and sometimes reaching 700–800 grams. The upper part of the fruit may be slightly ribbed, the bottom elongated and tapering into a characteristic heart. The flesh is meaty, firm, and juicy, with few seeds, making this variety ideal for processing: sauces, passata, concentrates, or homemade purées. The flavor is full, rich, and intensely tomato-like, with the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity.

Among other heart-shaped tomatoes, Cuore Antico di Acqui Terme stands out with its especially pure, deep red color and high regularity of fruits. Compared to classic heart types such as Cuor di Bue, it offers a more intense hue and slightly larger fruits while maintaining similar flesh quality. It is an excellent choice for those who value the tradition of Italian cuisine and at the same time want to grow a variety that is both striking and practical.

Cuore Antico di Acqui Terme is a tomato that will impress both in home gardens and in professional plantings, yielding fruits that are beautiful, large, and full of flavor — a true heart of Italian tradition.
