A variety of grape tomato dating back to the early 20th century. It originates from Italy. The fruits are red, spherical, with a characteristic pointed tip. Mid-early. The name comes from Italian and literally means “In Winter Bunches,” and in Italy this variety is known as “winter grapes”; both names stem from the fact that they have a long shelf life—at the end of the season, simply cut off the unripe clusters and hang them, for example, in the kitchen, where they will continue to ripen for several more weeks.
This tomato is associated with the Italian tradition of preserving clusters for the colder months. For storage, choose healthy, undamaged fruits and a dry, well-ventilated place. These meaty tomatoes are also suitable for drying and baking.
